Rendered Wax 2022

All the wax saved since the beginning of our journey thus far. Rendered, filtered, and poured into molds.

Beeswax is a very special product in the world of beekeeping and we use it for numerous applications.

Bees produce wax from wax glands in their abdomen. These scales of wax harden when they come into contact with the air and the bees then chew this wax and use it to build comb. Comb provides the storage space in a hive and holds honey, pollen, and brood (baby bees). Every year, as we extract honey, we end up with wax and this can be used to make numerous items. Most people think of candles. However, beeswax is also an ingredient in cosmetics, bow making, to strengthen and preserve sewing thread, to strengthen and preserve wind instruments, furniture polish, etc.. As you can tell the list goes on and on. There are many things the world uses this incredible ingredient for.

As you can tell, there are many great uses for beeswax but the best part is it is a 100% natural and renewable resource. Because beeswax is produced by the bees there are no chemicals to be found. It is also a non-toxic substance.

This year was our first year working with the wax we’ve been saving throughout our honey harvests and we opted to utilize silicon molds to make shapes and ornaments. Needless to say it worked great and we are very happy with the results. This was a special milestone in our business venture so we really wanted to do something different. Though, you can always melt these molds back down and utilize the wax for a more practical purpose (candles, chap sticks, etc.) We wanted to mark this venture with some decorative options prior to the holidays. We also thought it would be a good way to end the fall season of beekeeping. I’d say we made a good decision because these molds are really cool.

In the future we can and probably will dabble in the candle world and perhaps the chap stick world. For now though, we have some really neat decorative pieces that we will be posting for sale for the holidays. We will be utilizing our social media accounts to initially get the word out and if any of these pieces make it through the holiday season we will post some in our store here on the website.

These are limited and if you are interested you can contact us via the number on the website or hop onto facebook messenger and send us a picture of what you are interested in and we’ll let you know if it’s still available and what the cost would be. As always, any support from our customers is appreciated and all proceeds go directly back into the honeybees.

Happy Keeping!
